Alaska moose hunting can produce some incredible trophies and memories

We are serious about hunting & harvesting big Alaska bull moose, consistently. For the past 11+ years we have maintained 99-100% kill success, with 25-40% of them making record book entries. Best of all, I’m proud to report we’ve been making a lot of great friends and we’re having a great time doing it!  The moose racks in this photo range in outside width from 63” to 74”. 2 were taken by bow and each of them will make solid P&Y entries. The other 4 were taken by rifle; 2 of them will qualify for B&C entries, and the other 2 are darn nice bulls by any standard!

Here's a huge Alaska moose by any standard
“Greatest hunt of my life! After passing up 6 big bulls, I took this 66” trophy in the 5th day of the hunt! Great area, best guides, and excellent equipment. I’ll be back for a spring Brown Bear hunt in 2005” Don S., Idaho

Alaska moose are the largest member of the deer family and carry the largest antlers of any species on the North American continent. Mature Alaska bull moose can weigh 1,400-1,600 lbs with antlers that spread 60-70”+. A great trophy from any hunting trip!

We are year-around residents of Dillingham Alaska, which is a small bush community located 350 air-miles off the road system, in the Bristol Bay region of Western Alaska.

As year-around residents living within our hunt area, we don’t have to “go somewhere” to take folks hunting, as all of our hunts take place in our backyard.

Genetics in residence: Picture taken by one of our guides in our hunting area, during hunting season. These impressive bulls affectionately named “Wide Load” and “Big Dips”, were passed on for the beautiful moose in the above picture by Don S, of Idaho.|
Our “backyard”, which is literally our hunting area, is home to healthy populations of moose, brown bear, and the famous Mulchatna caribou herd.

Because of our intimate knowledge of our Alaska moose hunting area, game patterns, herd populations, and movements; we know exactly where to hunt for the largest trophies.

Drawing from years of experience, we know what hunting methods and techniques work best in this area for these species.

Annually we take 4-6 hunters total. You can book the trip as a moose hunt only, or as a combination hunt to include another species. Most folks do book combo trips.

Each hunter, or group of 2, if booked as a 2x1, hunts exclusively from their own camp for the entire season with no one else hunting in that area that same year.

In other words, no competition from other clients, or anyone else. The only people around your hunting area will be you, your guide & packer/camp helper. On average, our hunters see and pass-up, 2-6 mature bulls before harvesting one; this does not include smaller bulls or cows & calves.

It's great to be able to select a large animal from many...and that was the case here
“Excellent moose area! After seeing lots of big bulls, my guide and I chose this heavily palmated bull. This outfit is well organized, professional, honest and hard working. I’d recommend this hunt to anyone.” Vince B., Montana

“This has been an all around great experience, from the guides and packers, to the camps and especially the hunt. My awesome moose and beautiful  black wolf will make great trophies! I’ve made great friends and memories of a lifetime!” Phil G., Idaho
Our camps are located in a very remote area, with access by a Super Cub on tundra tires only. The bush flight from Dillingham to camp takes about 40-50 minutes.

The camps are deluxe by bush Alaska standards, especially when you take into consideration that each year we have to fly everything in & out by a small bush plane. The camps consist of steel framed “weather port” tents and Cabela’s Alaska Guide tents. There are different tents for eating and socializing, sleeping, gear, and etc. The camps are warm, dry, comfortable, and stocked with lots of food and plenty of snacks

The elevation at camp is 400’ above sea level and the terrain varies from dense spruce forests and open tundra meadows, to the lower areas around the ponds and streams that are thick with alder brush and willow. The ground is an un-even, bumpy tundra, covered in moss and low-growing vegetation. Once in camp, expect to walk from camp each day. You don’t have to be in top physical condition for this; however you should be comfortable walking through this terrain 2-6 miles per day while carrying your day-pack, and rifle or bow.

During this time of year, the moose are in a pre-rut condition, or the rut is in full swing. Our primary hunting method is calling & raking, but we also do some spot-n-stalk.

The action is up-close and can be intense. Most shots average 20-60 yards. About 60% of our hunters bring a rifle; the other 40% use a bow. Make sure to bring a good camera (preferably waterproof). If you can bring one of those new digital video cameras too, we’ll get some great footage of your hunt to take back home with you!

Please feel free to write or call us at (907) 373-2047, and let us know what we can do on this end to help you plan and prepare for your trip.

The “Ol’ Granddad” shed. I’m told this big guy can still be seen before and after hunting seasons in our guide area…should be named “Ol’ Grey Ghost."
