Our
brown / grizzly bear hunting trips are conducted along the
coastal areas of Alaska’s Bristol
Bay region. We are located at the top of the
Alaska Peninsula -- home to some of the largest bears in the
world. Our area has a dense population of brown
bears and the most liberal hunting season
and bag limit of anywhere in the state. Season is open for over 8 months,
which offers us almost 3 months of prime opportunities. We hunt
brownies
every spring & fall, with an annual bag limit of
one per year. |

"I have
hunted 13 different countries on 4
continents; my spring brown bear hunt
with my guide was one of the best I’ve ever
been on! Highlight of my hunt was taking
this 9’ 8” bear after passing on several
other smaller bears. Well organized and
professional!”

Brown
vs. Grizzly Bear
-We’ve all
heard these names, sometimes used
synonymously for the same animal. What is
the difference between a “brownie” and a
“grizzly”, if any?
1) It is
widely accepted in the guiding industry
that browns live along the coastal regions, within
100 miles of the shoreline.
2) Grizzlies
live in the interior regions
of the state, or north of the 62nd parallel.
**Brown &
grizzly are genetically the
same animal. Brown bears grow physically larger, primarily because
they live in a milder climate & eat
salmon all summer |
| Our
spring
brown bear trips start early. We
begin our season during the last week of March
and end the first week of May. If a
single species brown bear hunt is your focus,
we recommend spring. Spring hides are prime. Expect your
trophy to have
a full, dense coat, long thick hair and
heavy sharp claws. For this hunt we’ll
travel from Dillingham to one of our
cabins in a ski-equipped airplane. The two main methods we use
in spring include
staying overnight in the cabin and traveling daily by
snowmobile, or flying out to a remote tent camp
located near a den. Each method is productive.
Staying in the cabin and riding the snowmobiles can
be a less physically demanding hunt.
It's more of
a “gentleman’s hunt”.

| “I’ve
been on several hunts and this one
out ranks them all! After viewing
several “good” bears I
held-out for a really big one, then
got it, a true 10 footer that officially
made the B&C record books! Very
GOOD bear hunting, good food, camps,
guides, excellent equipment, well
organized and comfortable.”

During the
fall season,
the bears are at their heaviest weight. This is the
time of year when the bruin move from the salmon streams
to the hillsides seeking succulent
berries. Most fall brown bear hunts
are booked as a combo hunt with moose or caribou.
We’ll fly you to one of our remote tent camps, from
which all hunting is done by walking from camp and
glassing. This time of year we use
the spot-n-stalk method almost exclusively.
The bear density in our area is high. Expect
to see numerous bears during your hunt. Other critters
you may see include: moose, caribou, wolf, black
bear
& wolverine. I’m sure you’ll
enjoy our spectacular wilderness. It
really is a
great hunt! |

Trophy Size:
No doubt there is some “bear
stretching” that goes on in Alaska
every season. The record keeping
clubs only measure the skull for
this reason. Our clients are
consistently harvesting
brown/grizzly in the honest, 8’-9
½’+ range, with skulls in the
24”-28”+ range. We have taken many
record book brownies. A true 8 ½’
brown bear could easily have a B&C
skull and could weigh anywhere from
500 to well over 1,000 lbs -- truly
a giant!
We are committed to providing top
quality trophy hunts with personal
service to each customer, we take
4-6 bear hunters per season, total.
Our brown bear hunt cost is the most
fair price structure in the
industry. You pay $7,000.00 for the
hunt, then another $7,000.00 trophy
fee if/when you harvest your bear.
Obviously if you don’t take a bear,
you don’t pay the trophy fee. Or,
you can pay a
$12,000.00 flat fee. This is a good deal for each of us.
If you’re not successful, we’re not
successful. We would like to
have EVERY hunter take a huge
trophy. However, the reality
of it is this is fair-chase hunting
for wild free-ranging animals and no
one can guarantee success. |
 |
| Here
is a good example of a prime 8 ½’-9’
brownie taken during our spring season.
Claws are as long, or longer, than your
fingers, hairs is thick & full w/
no rub marks and you can see the beautiful
coloration throughout the rug, what
a nice trophy! This one also had a
huge skull which was accepted into the
current 25th annual B&C Awards book. |
